Exciting Year Ahead for Whitehouse

2014 was a successful (and very busy!) year for Whitehouse and 2015 has already started with a bang! So with a number of new developments to the business and new ranges due to be added throughout the next 12 months, we thought we’d give you a run down of what’s to come.

As you may have noticed, we have launched a brand new website for 2015. With a fresh look and improved functionality, the new site has been designed to make it easier for clients to locate and obtain information on the ideal products for their event. Featuring our full range of crockery, tableware, glassware and cutlery, along with fantastic images and detailed product information, we are hopeful that clients will benefit from the easier enquiry and ordering process from Whitehouse.

We have a number of new lines planned for 2015, the first of which is the Sienna range of chargers. These stunning round charger plates come in bronze, black, red, green and purple and make the perfect compliment to a table for a special event, or even as an alternative serving plate. Available in quantities of up to 500 in each colour, the Sienna range (shown in the image below) is the perfect addition to our existing lines of round and square charger plates.

Following the overwhelming success of our first cutlery range in 2014, we will this year be expanding the range, initially with a line of gold cutlery. Also coming soon (Spring 2015), we will be adding to our ever popular glassware range with a new sleek and contemporary Italian collection.

The past year has taken us all over the country delivering the finest in event crockery for events such as gala dinners, exclusive launch parties, private dinner parties, weddings and corporate functions. From London to Edinburgh, Cardiff to Glasgow and multiple destinations in between, our crockery, glassware and cutlery have been hired by clients far and wide. We’re proud to provide the UK catering and event industries with “something special and unique” and our passion for quality crockery, tableware, glassware and cutlery sourced from around the world really does help to make a special dining occasion stand out from the crowd. Whitehouse Meets… Ben Hayes from Thyme Out, Didsbury

Thyme Out is an eatery and catering business based in West Didsbury. Owned and managed by chef Ben Hayes, Thyme Out opened its doors opened in 2007 and is a firm favourite on the South Manchester foodie scene. Popular for breakfasts and brunches and providing corporate, wedding and private catering to customers across Manchester and Cheshire, Thyme Out is a thriving independent business.

We took 5 minutes to catch up with Ben and ask him a few pressing questions…

What’s your favourite dish to cook?

That’s almost as difficult as asking what my favourite dish to eat is – there’s too much choice! We mainly cook twisted British classics and Mediterranean influenced dishes for our catering and eat in menus but like any man, I love to barbeque! Good quality, fresh meats and fish are key and I’ve recently been experimenting with some new marinades, which have been tasting pretty good if I say so myself!

Who are your culinary inspirations?

In my early years as a chef I would aspire to the ‘classic’ French chefs – the Roux brothers, Raymond Blanc and even Gordon Ramsey (before all the TV programmes). Nowadays, the food scene is so exciting and there are chefs out there doing amazing, inventive things with an ever-growing supply of new ingredients, so inspiration is everywhere. I get a lot of inspiration from my travels – I’ll always come home from a holiday with a new dish for the menu or a new idea on how to assemble or present a dish.

What food trends have you noticed lately?

Breakfasts and brunches are becoming ever more popular – this is something we have really grown a niche in at Thyme Out. We’re also set to open a pop-up venue in Manchester city centre focusing solely on breakfasts and brunches, which is really exciting. Small dishes seem to be experiencing a bit of a resurgence – we’re increasingly being asked to provide bowl food for private and corporate functions, and tapas style dishes for weddings are also very popular now.

What’s on the agenda for your business over the next 12 months

Catering is an important aspect of our business and we will be especially looking to grow our corporate catering offering over the coming 12 months. We already have a strong client base and supply business lunches and event catering to several companies in Manchester, Stockport and Didsbury but we will be looking to expand this even further and will soon be launching a dedicated new website.

Favourite Whitehouse range

I love the Zoe glassware range – its lines and clean and elegant and the quality is superb. We catered at a dinner party in December and the place setting, cutlery and glassware was all provided by Whitehouse. The Abbey charger plates in orange really brought the table to life and looked really festive in the run up to Christmas.
